Today we hiked the Jurassic Coast and it truly got rough and wild – even without dinosaurs. What do teachers do in their free time after they have taken their students through a roaring storm and ongoing drizzle? Find out.
Getting drenched quickly
Arriving at the Durdle Door trailhead, we first hesitated to get off the bus because the English weather lived up to its reputation. We made our way through nasty gusts and horizontal rain to a viewpoint – and some of us got drenched after a couple of minutes already. In the hazy distance we could barely recognize Durdle Door, a natural rock arch.
Stumbling and rushing
We soon made the group move again stumbling towards Lulworth Cove. Some crazy ones, who weren’t soaked enough yet, plunged into the sea. Meanwhile, a fraction of us teachers headed … back to Durdle Door. Strange. We rushed just like raptors, managed to go down to the beach opposite the impressive stone arch, and enjoyed the view.

We were very happy that we took the effort of returning to the natural sight. Also, the three of us proved their fitness – and that we aren’t rusty and fossilised dinosaurs (yet). We wondered if any of the students would have come with us.
