London – an overrated city?

For us it was time to go to London. It was a sunny Tuesday morning when we left in Bournemouth. We were really excited and were wondering what will happen to us ? How will London be ? Will there be pickpockets ? We had so many questions that needed to be answered. In this travel blog we will talk about London from a teenagers perspective. So you will be equipped with all the information you need to know for your next London adventure.

As we already mentioned we were really excited, we even planned our route in the bus before getting to London as you can see in picture 3 above. Driving to the biggest City in England was our first adventure. As soon as we got close to the city we noticed how the traffic got worse. Outside of London we didn’t only saw a lot of traffic but also dirty streets and many worn down houses. The start was interesting but we didn’t have long to wait after 10 minutes of driving we saw the first really cool houses in Chelsea. The whole bus was amazed and we thought it was so a nice city. Another thing that was really cool and if you have the opportunity we would really recommend it is that you should get a bus driver or in our case a guide who talks you through the streets, it was so interesting. Then it was time we got out in the middle of London and decided that our plan was to first follow our guide to Big Ben which was so nice to see. We took the opportunity and made some fotos which you can also see above. Our opinion was that Big Ben is a must visit and that’s has revealed itself as true. After Big Ben we first walked through the crowded city along the Themse till we got to Trafalgar Square just as planned. Speaking of a plan we were appreciating it so much knowing where to go so that is a must do when you only have a few hours like us. From Trafalgar Square we walked to china town where we had really good bao at ,,Bao House’’ we would recommend it as a snack. We walked through China town straight to oxford street where we did some shopping at enjoyed the atmosphere before going to an Indian restaurant that was also standing on our bucket list. Oorja the Indian dining was a really good rated restaurant but we thought the food was mid and the price is just to high for the food. We had really high expectations going into it but really it was nothing special compared to our German-Indian food. We did this mistake so maybe you can learn from it.

After all this it was already 3:30 pm and our time in London was coming to an end. We just walked again through the city and did some small sightseeing but nothing really spectacular. So we walked back to Trafalgar Square to round off our time and meet our classes. Time has just flown by in London.

In the end we would say that London is a very beautiful city with many beautiful sights and a very bright history. We just thought it was not that big of a difference for example to Berlin and the prices were a bit to high. We also had really high expectations which also can be hard to achieve. All in all you can conclude that London is definitely worth a trip but I would plan to be there more than a day to really receive to whole experience.
